We ordered Bertch kitchen cabinets through a local dealer for our remodel. Most of the cabinets arrived in good condition, although there were a few issues. One drawer had a drawer glide screw sheared off (repaired by our contractor), another drawer had a split in the bottom panel (replaced), several upper cabinet shelf panels had defective veneer (replaced), the glass front upper was missing the spline needed to mount the glass (ordered by dealer), and last but not least by any means, one of the upper cabinets that was installed to the right of our sink, had a defect in the frame that wasn’t apparent during installation but once seen could not be unseen. Bertch wanted to put an side panel over it that would have looked stupid, but we insisted it be replaced. They sent a replacement, however refuse to pay for the labor cost to dismount the defective cabinet, an mount the replacement, a process that also required the cabinet next to it to be taken down then re-installed.
This required about 2-3 hours of time for two men that should not have been needed if Bertch actually had some quality control in their manufacturing process. Bertch says they don’t reimburse for labor when a replacement is required, and in my opinion this is unreasonable for the consumer, who paid for a perfect product, to have to pay for extra labor when a manufacturer cannot provide the product they promise.

    Dissatisfied Buyer

    1. My wife and I had painstakingly selected a Bertch bathroom vanity cabinet with a matching mirror from Aaron & Company at 638 Park Avenue in Freehold, New Jersey. We had to wait more than 5 weeks and it was first delivered on February 24th.

    2. Upon opening the box the vanity was seriously damaged inside. Both drawers were broken, the front panel connector brackets were broken, and there was a chip missing at the side bottom corner. The matching Bertch mirror was scratched in two places. The box it was shipped in was free of damage with the exception of some minor damage in one corner.

    3. Aron & Company reordered the vanity and the mirror for us on February 28, 2023, and had the damaged vanity and mirror picked up as a return from our home on March 7, 2023.

    4. The vanity and mirror that were reordered were delivered on April 4, 2023. This time it was worse. We opened the vanity with the delivery driver immediately. The entire side of the cabinet was cracked. The back of the cabinet was also cracked. There were two manufacturing errors. The front top panel was affixed way off center. One side had a gap and the other side was too far over. The rear back panel was only partially attached whereby the staples missed being attached to the frame. We did not accept delivery and the driver took the vanity and the mirror back.

    5. The vanity and the mirror are expensive items, and we expected quality. We have been without a bathroom vanity and sink now for three months. We have been seriously inconvenienced because of the poor product manufacturing and delivery conditions. We had to take make arrangement to be home for both deliveries and both times the plumbers had to be rescheduled. This has been a nightmare and is totally unacceptable.

Cheaply made cabinets, wall paper sides. With the amount of money we spent on these cabinets I would have thought they would be better made with at least plywood for the carcass instead of particle board. The sink cabinet paper is lifting off the “floor” and bubbling like crazy. It did get wet one time with about a half of cup of water from a faulty drain (which was cleaned up immediately), but that’s it. The carpenter who installed these had concerns from the beginning. If it wasn’t for a deadline we needed to meet they would’ve went back. I would not purchase these cabinets again.

The Bertsch cabinet in the bathroom of my own has been replaced 4 times because the siding peals off. The cabinet is not prepared for steam from the shower in type of environment incurred. There has been payment for three of the cabinets with labor, after the one warranty offered, and it’s not of utmost value, if I can receive any rebate.

I have four previous Bertsch cabinets that fell apart as to the siding in a small bathroom with the shower working. Very badly made. It seems that I’ve to go to outdoor cabinets for the weatherproofing. Please advise better.

Really a zero would be better ,, I’m a contractor, doing a bathroom remodel, I ordered the vanity and linen closet for a client, the first set came delivered damaged and broken, the second or reordered ones came in even more damaged then the first , , they get reordered the 3 rd time, this time just the cabinets were ordered without doors or draws to speed up manufacturing time , it was delivered today , Friday at 4:30 pm the linen cab was brought in and opened for inspection , the cabinet was damaged on the side , and it was in the wrong finish , it was supposed to be Matt finish it came in semigloss , so the new cab doesn’t match the original doors and draws , I sent everything back ,,and I want a full refund that fight will start Monday , never again will buy these cabinets

I agree that the Bertch cabinet quality is subpar. We have cabinets with cracks, the paint is chipping and the paint is actually melting off around the cooktop area. I also reported this to the company and got the same run around about humidity, blah, blah, blah. I am paying to replace some of the pieces, and wished I had gotten custom built instead of factory as they hold up better. Very disappointed. Don’t buy Bertch!

Buyer beware. Do not purchase from Bertch cabinet co.
For over 8 years I have had issues with hinges failing, doors that were sent warped, doors unfinished with the glaze ordered. when it comes to customer service, this company fails to deliver.. They were given information written on the back of the hinges, along with pictures.. Three times they sent the wrong product.. In frustration over this issue and many others, I contacted the company that made the hinge on these cabinets.. Voila.. within days I had the correct product.. Their excuse was they changed vendors. !! I don’t care who they use! It was their responsibility to get me what was needed for “THEIR” cabinet doors.. Another issue is the doors came thru slightly warped and over the years became worse.. I had three experts who MAKE cabinets come to my home to say.. they are warped from the factory.. It was not the fault of the installer nor was it a “humidity”issue which they just LOVE to blame this on..

We have owned Bertch cabinets since 2009 and we also have paint flaking off. I am so disappointed in the quality. I have already replace three doors at a high cost to me. I was told it is water damage. I have never had any other cabinets do this.

After doing a bit of research locally and online, we had the Bertch Marketplace stock cabinets installed earlier this year in a natural wood finish with upgraded drawers. We purchased the Quincy 3 style door, which is hardwood with a wood laminate insert. The cabinets have a very nice look and are reasonably priced for what you get. The finish holds up well against water and spills. We also like the quality of the hardware, which is included in the price of the cabinets. Although we have only had them a short time, we’re pretty sure they will hold up well over time.

We purchased Bertch cabinets 4 years ago. The paint is peeling where there are seams that meet. You can actually lift off pieces of the paint/glaze with your fingernail. We have 4 decorative posts and one of them the paint is just flaking off. We had a door sent it for analysis and they said it was due to a water source and to determine where the water is coming from. Really? A water source on the cabinets that are hung above our counter tops? This issue is not just on the lower cabinets or ones located under a sink. This is happening to upper cabinets and the posts, which have no water source around them. Bottom line is they won’t fix them. To spend $20,000 and have cabinets last 4 years is unacceptable. Don’t buy Bertch!
